Injections vs. cream vs. pellets: choosing a TRT method

There's no single best way to take testosterone. Here's how the three main delivery methods compare and who each one suits.

Injections

The most established and cost-effective method. Testosterone cypionate or enanthate, given weekly or twice weekly. Injections offer predictable, well-studied dosing that's easy to adjust — the reason they remain the default for most men. The tradeoff is the routine of self-injection.

Creams and gels

Applied daily to the skin for steady, needle-free delivery. Convenient and easy to titrate, but they require care to avoid transferring testosterone to partners or children through skin contact.

Pellets

Small pellets implanted under the skin every few months for completely hands-off delivery. Ideal for men who don't want a daily or weekly routine. The tradeoff: once placed, the dose can't be adjusted until the next insertion.

How we choose

The right method depends on your physiology, lifestyle, and preferences — a decision made with your physician, not a default. AndroMD's Optimize and Elite memberships include your choice of method.
